We came in for a happy hour around 530pm. Ordered the meatballs and basilica pizza and the mussels. The meatballs tasted like chef boyardee can meatballs. It was terrible. And it was room temperature which means it was precooked and just put on top of hot tomato sauce. The mussels had good flavor. They forgot our bread so we had to ask the food runner to bring us some. And then the bread ended up tasting like “ coal”. I watched them put it over high fire and “ grill “ it. And that Smokey flavor was too pungent for us to enjoy dipping the bread in the mussel pesto sauce. The pizza was the best thing. It was tasty and decent 8inch size. The drinks were also good as we only ordered a beer and Tito’s grapefruit. The restaurant itself was very big, open and bright. The bartender was friendly. But you can see she was overwhelmed as she worked the entire bar and high top area alone! While other staff was shooting the shxt and laughing. The restaurant has potential but definitely needs a revamp on the food. Would I come back? Definitely not for food but maybe for drinks.
To our surprise, there is an Ava in SoHo. We loved the pizza at the Joinery location, and we're excited to try this location. The decor is very nice and spacious. I started with a ravioli (average) and the bread service, which was the best restaurant bread I've had—the texture of a soft donut with a perfectly crispy exterior. Paired with the whipped ricotta and honey, it's AMAZING. I had to have the Bestia again, but it's not as good as the joinery location(less cheese and sausage). The margarita pizza was very good with pepperoni. Service was okay, but I would definitely return for the bread service option.
Went to Ava for the first time Saturday morning for brunch with my mom. The service, food, and atmosphere was top notch. We had originally gone to another restaurant in Hyde park but left due to poor service. We arrived at Ava a few minute before opening and their doors were locked. We were going elsewhere but then a sweet young lady named Or ran out to greet us. She said they were just opening in a few minutes and we could come in and look at the menu. Not many places do this she was amazing. We then had Jacob as our server, he gave us great recommendations and we had an amazing brunch. We will be back again for brunch and to try dinner here. Amazing service with delicious food, too!
Italian... it says on the sign but I think the operators only know the country and, above all, the very good, outstandingly well-seasoned and well-presented food from glossy magazines. If it's first class I can open a restaurant here at any time!!! and I'm not a cook, sorry for that. we shouldn't talk about the price at all, it's something like overpriced, we've already paid a lot of money but we've never had such a bad meal... will we come back??? Certainly not and unfortunately we cannot recommend it to anyone. I would strongly recommend a trip to Italy to everyone who works in the kitchen...it would be an experience and would raise the quality to another level.
Great place and food. They have a private room that can seat 8-12 people. We had a great waitress and service for our 2+ hour dinner celebration. The lamb rub was excellent.
Food was delicious, atmosphered was great. However, our server Olivia was not attentive at all. She took forever to bring refills, didn’t communicate to us their policy on how the checks are done. Olivia was extremely rude and wouldn’t help us split the bill among couples instead wanted the entire check split evenly which we did not want to do. She wanted us to do her job for her because she was incapable of comprehending how to split checks among couples. The tip that is mandatory was $130… definitely not deserved for such unprofessional service. She began to get rude and one of the people with us over heard her speaking ill of us to other servers. The bartender/ manager on duty was very professional and attentive. Which made things better.
We wanted to try a brunch spot while visiting Tampa and came across this place. One of the best brunches we have had! Great brunch atmosphere/vibes as we went on a Sunday morning. Place quickly filled up after we got there. Started with the biscuit and gravy and the bottomless mimosas for $20 a person to start which was a great value and tasted great. Wife got a 2 egg breakfast and I got the monte cristo which was excellent. We will definitely be back for brunch again when in the area.
Our first time coming to Ava after a coworker recommended this place to my girlfriend. We decided to have a nice dinner before going to see our families for Christmas. The parking was fairly easy in a nearby garage, it was a Thursday night but still active. We were seated quickly and were tended to often. Our waitress was great, helpful and knowledgeable. The ambiance was great along with the food and the drinks. We had the bolognese and the chicken parm with a number of different drinks that we tried and loved. We had a great night and we both agreed that we would come back to try some other dishes on the menu.
